Magnum Magnetics

Magnum Magnetics opened their doors for business in 1991 starting operations in a 10,000 sq foot building in Marietta, Ohio. After several expansions they now operate two manufacturing facilities in Ohio totaling 160,000 sq feet and produce a wide variety of flexible permanent magnet including sheeting, strip, and extrusions.

Johnson Plastics history with magnetic products dates back to their beginning in the early 1970’s when vacuum-forming was a way of producing signage for the automobile industry. Magnetic strip was a means of adhering a sign to the side of a car.

MSI (Magnetic Specialty Inc), of Marietta, Ohio was the developer and manufacturer of magnetic strip in conjunction with BF Goodrich back in the early 1970’s. Johnson Plastics became one of MSI’s first distributors of the product. Through the years the two companies helped advance magnetic products in the sign industry. Magnetic strip led to magnetic sheeting and also magnetic novelty products.

Several years ago MSI was purchased by Magnum Magnetics and today Johnson Plastics enjoys a good working relationship with the new company.

Magnetic Sheets, Tape & Rolls

Magnetic Sheets & Rolls

Magnetic Sheeting is available in standard magnetic strength. This high-quality magnetic material can be coiled to a 1/2" (12.7 mm) radius without cracking at 68° F. The performance range for temperature is -15°F to 160°F (-26°C to 71°C). Magnetic sheeting is available in both rolls and sheets. Standard roll width is 24 3/8". Magnetic sheeting is magnetized with equally spaced magnetic poles running parallel to the length of the rolls.

Magnetic Tape w/Adhesive

Magnetic tape is extruded with barium ferrite powder embedded in the strip and then magnetized to maximize strength. A good quality, all-purpose adhesive is applied to one side which is designed for either indoor or outdoor application.
